Los Angeles, California—May 22, 2024—The FDA is launching the first phase two of a nationwide Phase 2 clinical trial for Erectile Dysfunction (ED) treatment in California, which involves more than 50,000 men in the state who have experienced adverse reactions to sildenafil (sold as Viagra) or its generic equivalent, Viagra.

The trial will enroll more than 70,000 men in the Los Angeles area, from the age of 40, to experience erectile dysfunction at the onset of the medication, the FDA announced Thursday.

This study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the ED treatment for the majority of men who experience symptoms of ED at the time of starting the study.

The FDA approval is a significant milestone for Erectile Dysfunction (ED) treatment, and the study is expected to begin in April 2025.

The FDA is also conducting additional clinical trials to assess the safety and efficacy of sildenafil and the generic equivalent, and to compare these drugs with sildenafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men.

The FDA will continue to monitor the safety and efficacy of sildenafil in patients with ED to ensure it is appropriate for treatment.

This Phase 2 trial will evaluate the safety and efficacy of sildenafil in men with ED at the time of the start of the study and during a follow-up visit. The trial will also assess the safety and effectiveness of the generic ED treatment.

About Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction, or ED, is a condition in which a man or woman has difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection.

In the United States alone, about 1 percent of men experience ED, and approximately 6 percent of those men have some form of ED. Erectile Dysfunction is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity.

About the Study

This Phase 2 trial is a multicenter, open-label, phase 2 study conducted in 80 men aged 40 to 70 years old who have experienced ED or other ED-related problems at the time of initiation of sildenafil or the generic equivalent, Viagra, or their generic equivalent, tadalafil, or the combination of these medications for at least 6 months. The study will recruit men who have experienced ED at the time of initiating sildenafil or the generic equivalent, Viagra, or their generic equivalent, tadalafil, or the combination of these medications, and who are expected to have a follow-up visit with their doctor. The men will be evaluated for erectile dysfunction at the start of the study, and at the end of the study, in accordance with the U. S. Food and Drug Administration’s new, improved ED standards.

The FDA has approved Viagra for use in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Viagra works by inhibiting the enzyme PDE5, which is responsible for breaking down the blood vessels in the penis. This allows more blood to get into and/or less blood going into the penis. As a result, sexual stimulation is possible, allowing for increased blood flow and an erection.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the most common sexual dysfunction in men, affecting approximately 20 percent of men between the ages of 40 and 70, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“ED is defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection that is firm enough for sexual intercourse,” according to. “ED can have a significant impact on relationships.”

“ED can be caused by many factors, including a lack of sexual desire, psychological problems, relationship stress, and lifestyle choices,” according to, a leading expert in.

Viagra, also known as sildenafil, is the active ingredient in all of the three main ED drugs. While there is no FDA-approved or over-the-counter medication for ED, it is considered to be safe and effective for most men, according to.

Viagra is the drug that comes in pill form and the active ingredient in the other three drugs, and is often prescribed to men over the age of 50, according to.

“Viagra is typically used to treat impotence in men, and may be used in combination with other ED medications to treat the symptoms of ED,” according to.

However, the efficacy and safety of these drugs have not been established in clinical trials, and researchers are still hoping to find the most effective way to treat ED.

While the effects of Viagra are not as potent as they once were, they can still cause side effects such as headaches, flushing, indigestion, and nasal congestion. Some men who take Viagra also experience side effects.

The most common side effects of Viagra are:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea

Some men who take Viagra experience an increase in heart rate and blood pressure.

Viagra should be taken as prescribed, even if you have not taken it within the past 12 months.

“The best time to take Viagra is for a sexual encounter and a certain amount of sexual activity, so it is best not to take Viagra more than once a day,” according to.

It’s worth noting that, depending on your health status and other medications you’re taking, you may be able to achieve an erection in the bedroom without taking the drug.

“The most common side effects of Viagra are headaches, flushing, indigestion, and nasal congestion,” according to.

If you have heart disease or high blood pressure, it’s important to take Viagra at least two hours before sexual activity.

“If you have a history of heart problems, Viagra may not be effective,” according to.

“If you’re using Viagra and are experiencing dizziness or lightheadedness, you should not take Viagra. If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, Viagra may not be a safe and effective treatment for erectile dysfunction. You should not take Viagra if you’re already taking other ED medications, including those with nitrates, or over-the-counter ED medications, or over-the-counter ED medications. It may take longer to see effects for a longer duration of treatment,” according to.

If you’re taking any other medications, it’s important to tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you take. If you’re taking any of the drugs mentioned here, they may interact with Viagra, including other drugs that affect the heart’s blood flow, such as, or alpha blockers.

“If you’re not sure about any medications, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about changing your dosage,” according to.

Some research has also found that Viagra may be associated with increased risk of developing a rare blood disorder called, which is a type of blood disorder that can cause a small number of people to bleed. This type of blood disorder can be fatal.
